KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL) reported a net profit of 22.3 billion rupees ($228.4 million) in the half year through December, up from Rs 20.11 billion in the same period last year.

The company also said in a statement on Monday that its earning per share rose 11 percent to 13.58 rupees. It said it planned a 5 rupee per share cash dividend.

PPL shares were trading 1.1 percent lower at 177 rupees.
