THIS is in response to Irfan Husain’s article ‘The liberal dilemma’ (Jan 28). Everyone has his point of view about current events in the world but enforcing them without proper reasoning can never sell any idea.

It was evident that the article was written to support French intervention in Mali but the writer used some words like Islamists which are not new but they hurt millions of Muslims globally.

It is necessary for writers of mainstream newspapers to have an eye on the sentiments and feelings of the masses while wording any thought. It should also be noted that there was not even a word for the sufferings of people of Palestine, Kashmir, Myanmar and other states where Muslims are oppressed but there is no intervention on the grounds of human rights’ vilations.

It was also apparent that the writer was providing justification for collateral damage whereas it can transform victims into militants which is based on reality and quite understandable. The writer tried to avoid reality but he might not be aware that he cannot avoid consequences of avoiding reality.
