Conversation with a mosquito

This is with reference to the article Conversation with a mosquito by Gulrukh Tausif (YW, January 12, 2013 ). It was a beautiful piece in which the writer adopted a very innovative style to guide the readers about the hazards of mosquito bites and also the ways to prevent it.

In our part of the world, people seldom care about the hygiene of their surroundings which results in various diseases, such as malaria and dengue fever, caused by mosquito bite.

It’s our responsibility to keep our house and city neat and clean, free from germs we all can live a healthy and happy life.

Fear of failure

This is with reference to the cover story Fear of failure by Gulrukh Tausif (YW, January 12, 2013 ). I agree with the writer that if we stop dreaming due to fear of failure, we can achieve nothing in life. We shouldn’t be afraid of failure because a failure is the first step towards success. We must keep trying and not lose our confidence if we encounter failure on the way to achieving our goal.

The people who we see as successful today didn’t achieve success at once, but only after facing a lot of failures. We too, should not lose hope in case our initial efforts fail and we should keep trying and work hard until our dream comes true.

The royal game

This is with reference to the article Chess, the royal game, by Veda Riaz Fatmy (YW, January 19, 2013). I loved it and enjoyed reading it as it was all about chess rules.

I didn’t know how to play this game properly but I feel such articles should be published in magazines to develop more interest in children for reading and playing games that require mental stimulation. Hats off to the Young World team for doing such a great job!

Diversity talks

By accepting diversity, we can bring positive changes in our society. Diversity is all about accepting and tolerating people belonging to different religions, cultures, caste and ethnic groups. If we show patience and spread the message of love and peace in our society where people from different communities live, we can not only create harmony but also make way for progress.

A society, where people are inconsiderate towards each other, cannot prosper. Our religion too, has taught us to be patient and kind towards our fellow beings; only that way happiness and success will prevail in the world.

Wearing suitable sunglasses

Usually people wear sunglasses in order to protect their eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays. But nowadays, sunglasses have become a fashion accessory and people wear them to look more stylish and chic. But one should keep in mind the size, shape and colour of sunglasses before purchasing them. We should wear sunglasses that suit our face and overall personality.

If we are wearing sunglasses as a fashion accessory, they should look beautiful on our face instead of weird or funny.

Embrace the new

This is with reference to the article Embrace the new by Mahira Ghazal (Jan 5, 2013).

It was a very effective article that encouraged me to forget the past and accept the present and focus on the future. If someone has hurt us, instead of keeping grudges or bad feelings for him/her, it’s better to move on for a better future. Similarly, if we make any mistake, instead of regretting we should learn from it and try our best not to repeat that mistake in future.
