Man booked for killing wife

LARKANA, Jan 31: A man was booked for forcing his wife, a mother of five, to drink a poisonous liquid and gagging her to death when she refused in Gul Kalhoro village on the outskirts of Sujawal Junejo town on Thursday.

According to villagers, Abdul Lateef Kalhoro drove his wife Razia, 35, on a motorcycle to a graveyard about half a kilometre from the village and forced her to swallow some poisonous liquid in a bottle. When she resisted he strangulated her to death and escaped, they said.

Gul Sher Kalhoro, the woman’s brother, told journalists that Abdul Lateef had phoned him after killing his sister and asked him to take away the body he had dumped in the graveyard.

Police recovered the bottle which contained a poisonous liquid prepared from anti-lice powder and took the body to Shahdadkot taluka hospital for autopsy. It was later handed over to relatives.

Gul Sher lodged an FIR against Abdul Lateef and his brothers Haji Ahmed Kalhoro and Mohammad Ali Kalhoro and stated that Abdul Lateef had called him a few days ago and demanded money which he said he needed to clear some loans.—BoC
