What is common between Daniel Craig, Angry Birds, Ivo Karlovic and Sachin Tendulkar? They are all entities that feature in the bestselling Top 10 annual which is back once again!

The Top 10 of Everything 2013 is now loaded with more than 700 updated lists and brand-new feature spreads, bringing to you the best, the worst, the biggest, the largest and even the deadliest of everything, as the name suggests!

For the past 24 years, Russell Ash has been bringing up the ‘top 10 of everything’, and although he is not around, his tradition is.

The Top Ten of Everything 2013 covers more or less everything there is that we come in contact with. Be it sports, music, movies, science, people or the Solar System, you are bound to find fascinating full-colour images as well as equally enlightening facts that will entertain as well as educate you.

This book opens a new world to you, a world of facts. So if you didn’t know that the king of the jungle, lion, is also the king of sleepingmammals, don’t look surprised, because due to its hibernation, it is. Similarly, it stunned me to find out that oxygen is the third most common element in the universe, not the first as we perceive. We may all love the planet we live in, but it falls at number six on the list of the largest bodies in the Solar System.

This book educated me in many ways, since it was here I found out that Abraham Lincoln was the tallest United States President ever, as he stood at nearly six feet, four inches, or that actress Meryl Streep leads the Academy Award race with as many as 17 nominations! Although the book features the devastating floods in Pakistan on the initial pages, it does feature the country regularly, in better circumstances; like Pakistan is amongst the top 10 sheep and cattle countries of the world, and is predicted to remain in the top 10 most populated country list in 2025 and 2050.

As for the four entities mentioned at the beginning, the book features top 10 films of Daniel Craig, Angry Birds finds two places in the top three most downloaded applications in the world, Ivo Karlovic has the fastest serve in tennis at 156 miles per hour and Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer to score 100 international centuries.

I am sure you didn’t know most of the stuff in this review, so just consider how much more you would find in the actual book! — S.F.  i
