KARACHI, Jan 27: Speaking to the participants in a sit-in organised outside the provincial election commission office here on Sunday, different political and religious parties leaders said that the aim of their sit-in was to increase awareness among citizens of Karachi of the “pre-poll rigging being carried out in the form of verification of electoral rolls by excluding army personnel from the process in violation of a Supreme Court judgment”. Besides Jamaat-i-Islami leaders Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui and Mohammed Hussain Mehanti, the others who spoke on the second day of the three-day sit-in included the PML-N’s Saleem Zia, SUP’s Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah and Sindh Taraqqipasand Party’s Gulzar Soomro.—Staff Reporter
