War of words in politics

THIS is with reference to your editorial ‘War of words’ (Jan 19). While the misuse of the word ‘padri’ in a derogatory manner is rightfully disheartening for our Christian brothers, I intend to draw your attention towards the usage of the adjective ‘Qadri’ as well.

Millions of Muslims all across the world initiated in this particular spiritual order (Qadriyya) have sizable presence in Pakistan as well. Their feelings must have been hurt when these two respectable titles were used mockingly in replacement to each other.

Already ridden with multifaceted conflicts, the usage of such titles in this particular manner must be avoided.

Filthy politics THIS refers to Rehman Malik’s remarks about the Pope. I urge senior authorities to keep a check on such sensitive issues and refrain from airing such statements.

It is highly insane to bring the Pope into the filthy politics when he is a non-controversial personality and has nothing to do with it. It has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Christians who demand an immediate apology.
