ISLAMABAD: Mobile phone services will stay suspended in major cities of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan’s capital on Friday as part of security arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) gatherings and processions.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik said here on Thursday that requests for suspension of mobile phone services had been received from three provinces.

In a late night development, officials said that mobile phone services would remain suspended in 51 cities of Punjab and seven major cities of Sindh from 8am to 10pm while in Quetta the services would be suspended from 10am to 2pm.

Lahore, Multan Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura and Nankana Saheb are among the 51 cities of Punjab while Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Khairpur are among the seven cities of Sindh.
