KARACHI, Jan 21: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested four suspected militants, said to be associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, in a Manghopir locality and recovered arms and ammunition from them.

Speaking at a press conference, CID SP Aslam Khan said that the four suspects — Abdul Wahid alias Mama, Karim Khan alias Malang, Shoaib Alam and Adil Nawab — were associated with the Sher Khan group of the TTP and involved in several acts of terrorism and extortion.

He claimed that 30 kilograms of explosives, three AK-47 assault rifles, four hand-grenades, three 9mm pistols and bullets were recovered from them.

He said that suspect Nawab had escaped from the Bannu prison following the attack by Taliban militants. He had come to Karachi and was said to be an expert in bomb-making.
