Sharifs won’t be allowed to return, says Faisal

ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat on Thursday said no other member of Sharif family will return to Pakistan.

The minister said except four members of Abbas Sharif family who arrived at Lahore on Tuesday, no other member of Sharif family had sought permission for the return, he added.

He pointed out that no member of Sharif family could return without having got permission from the government of Pakistan, he told Dawn.

Answering to a question, the minister said the members of Sharif family were bound to keep themselves away from any political activity during their stay in the country.

He said members of Sharif family reached the country to attend a marriage after which they would have to return to Saudi Arabia.

A spokesman for interior ministry said four members of Sharif family have been given one week’s time to stay in the country.

To a question about some reports regarding departure of Asif Ali Zardari to Dubai on parole, the spokesman of the ministry said the interior ministry has no such information. He said his ministry had not been informed if any deal has struck between Mr Zardari and the government.
