MANSEHRA, Jan 18: Five people were killed when a car fell into a deep ravine in Ghanool area of Kaghan valley on Friday.
The accident occurred after the driver lost control of the car bound for Kaghan from Mansehra, negotiating a sharp turn.
Among those killed were Ziaur Rehman of Mansehra, Mohammad Kareem of Allai, Mohammad Saleem and Baseer Ahmad and Saeedur Rehman of Qalanderabad.
Police and local residents retrieved the bodies from the ravine and shifted them to a hospital in Balakot before handing them over to the relevant families, according to the head moharrar of Balakot city police station.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner of Mansehra Zulfiqar Ali Shah paid a surprise visit to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital on Thursday night.
He visited various wards and asked patients about health services and attitude of doctors and paramedics.
The DCO also checked the duty register and met with the staff but none of offices was absent from the duty.
Medical superintendent Dr Niaz Mohammad later informed Mr Shah about the presence of staff and services provided to patients.
Visitors to the hospital, whose building was destroyed in the Oct 2005 earthquake, are currently being attended at the nursing hostel with the bedding capacity of 170.
