KARACHI, Jan 18: Eight people were gunned down within an hour in different areas of the city on Friday evening.

Two brothers, said to be supporters of Sipah-i-Sahaba, were killed on Lasbela Bridge, DIG Javed Odho told Dawn.

Mohammad Irshad and Mohammad Akhlaq were going on a motorcycle when they came under fire, he said

Soon after a religious scholar, Mohammad Ajmal of the Alami Majlis Khatam-i-Nabuwat, and another man associated with the Majlis were killed on M.A. Jinnah Road.

The bodies of a young girl and a man were found in a house in DHA. Police have detained the girl’s brother for interrogation.

A police officer was of the opinion that Waqasur Rehman killed Madiha and then shot himself in the head. A pistol was found in the room.

An unidentified young man was killed in the old city area.

The victim in his mid-20s was shot in the head and his body was found near Urdu Bazaar, DSP Preedy Zamir Abbasi said.

In yet another incident, a man identified as Barkat was killed in a clash between two groups in Mawatch Goth area, said SP Keamari Haseeb Baig.
