Rain, snowfall dip temperature

LAHORE, Jan 17: Rain and snow over the hills once again dipped temperatures in most parts of the country on Thursday.

There was intermittent drizzle in Lahore and some localities witnessed hailstones. It remained heavily overcast throughout the day dropping the maximum temperature to 13 degrees celsius. The minimum Wednesday night temperature was four degrees Celsius.

The Met office reported light-to-moderate rain in several cities and nearly six-inch snow in Murree and Kalam.

Kotli received 20mm of rain, Murree 18mm, Rawlakot 17mm, Garhi Dupatta and Jhelum 12mm (each), Saidu Sharif, Pattan and Mangla 11mm (each), Islamabad airport and Gujranwala 9mm (each), Muzaffarabad 8mm, Malamjabba 7mm, Sialkot, Balakot and Islamabad Zero Point 6mm (each), Kalam, Drosh and Mandi Bahauddin 5mm (each), Faisalabad, Chilas, Mirkhani, Sukkur and Jacobabad 3mm (each), Lahore airport, Padidan, Gilgit and Kakul 2mm (each), Lahore city, Bunji, Larkana, Mohenjodero and Rohri 1mm (each).

It forecast widespread thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills over Malakand division and Gilgit Baltistan in the next 24 hours. Fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills may occur over Kashmir and upper Punjab.

Thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills may occur at scattered places of Peshawar, Mardan, Hazara, Kohat, Dera Ismael Khan divisions and southern Punjab. Also, thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills is likely to occur at isolated places of eastern Balochistan and Sindh.
