Man awarded death in murder case

CHARSADDA, Jan 17: A local court awarded death penalty to an accused in a murder case here on Thursday and absolved the convict’s brother and father of the charge for want of evidence.

According to police record, one Tilla Mohammad was killed on Nov 5, 2010 in his hometown Sarwarabad. Khial Mohammad, son of the deceased, had later filed an FIR in Umarzai police station against three accused, including Rehmanullah, his brother Subhanullah and father Kiramatullah, who had been arrested. Additional district and sessions judge Jehan Zeb Khan on Thursday awarded death sentence and Rs100,000 fine to Rehmanullah for committing the crime. It, however, absolved his accused father and brother of the charge.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed in separate incidents here on Thursday.

According to police report, unknown assailants gunned down one Razi Khan, a resident of Droshkhel area of Swat, here in Mirzai area of Shabqadar. Police said that Mr Khan was killed in the house where he was living.

The Batgram police have registered the case against unknown assailants.

In another incident, a man was killed when he fell on a running crush machine where he was working after a live electricity wire fell on him in Farooq Dheri, Tangi.

The victim was identified as Sajjad, a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan. His body was later sent to his hometown. —Correspondent
