Oil price strike in Bangladesh

The paucity of natural gas has prompted Bangladesh to use more fuel oil to sustain its electricity supply. The authorities hence announced a nine per cent hike in fuel prices early this year, a move that will lighten the country’s subsidy burden on petroleum products but add to its incessantly high inflation.
