LAHORE, Jan 15: The Technology Upgradation and Skills Development Company (TUSDEC) has joined hands with the Central and North Punjab Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNP-WCCI) for empowerment of women by arranging vocational trainings and formal employment opportunities for them.
The collaboration was substantiated in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by both parties at the TUSDEC office for women’s empowerment, according to a spokesperson on Tuesday.
Under the MoU, TUSDEC would be imparting free trainings to marginalised women of Punjab in various conventional and unconventional areas identified by the CNP-WCCI. It had already joined hands with Darul Amaan of Lahore and Sialkot besides Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centre for Women Development to identify beneficiaries for vocational training courses.
Under the MoU, both parties would collaborate for mentoring of women, thereby encouraging them to effectively participate in the country's economic oscillation.
According to the spokesperson, employment opportunities would also be identified for the skilled women or they could be linked with micro-finance institutions to strengthen their potentials of self-employment.
TUSDEC Chief Executive Officer Basit Maqsood Abbasi spoke about various initiatives his company had taken to upgrade technology and develop skills.
CNP-WCCI President Qaisra Shiekh highlighted the dire need of imparting training to the women from marginalised communities in fields demanded by the industry to enable them to earn a livelihood for their families.
