The NAB procedure

The initial inquiry into the two RPP cases has been completed.

The investigating officers have submitted their findings to the director general of NAB Rawalpindi who had forwarded these to the NAB headquarters in Islamabad for filing a reference against the accused.

The NAB chairman will approve the reference after the bureau holds an internal executive board meeting. The reference will thenbe filed in an accountability court which, after initial proceedings, can frame charges of corruption against the accused.

After this, NAB can arrest the accused named in the reference before or after the charge-sheet is framed. The accused has the right to get bail before arrest from a competent court.
