Gilani and Imran visit Sharifs

LAHORE, Jan 14: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, PTI leaders Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi were among prominent political and social figures who called on Pakistan Muslim League-N President Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Raiwind here and condoled with them the death of their brother, Abbas Sharif.

Fateha was also offered for the departed soul.

Others who visited the Sharifs included former president Rafique Tarrar, adviser Dr Asim, Public Accounts Committee Chairman Nadeem Afzal Chann and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf.

UAE royal family’s delegation comprising Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Shaikh Mohammed bin Nahyan, Shaikh Abdul Jabbar Alsayegh, Shaikh Ali Alblooshi, Shaikh Khalfan al Kaabi, Shaikh Almutasim Almidfa and Iranian Consul General Bani Asadi alsomet Nawaz and offered condolences.

The Sharif brothers will meet people coming to offer condolences on Wednesday (tomorrow) from 4pm to 5pm and on Friday (Jan 18) from 11am to 12noon.

Nawaz will visit Quetta on Tuesday (today) to condole with the Hazara community.

Meanwhile, talking to newsmen Gilani said Dr Tahirul Qadri had no “political value” and should not be taken seriously.

He said for the caretaker set-up, the government would take all stakeholders into confidence.

He said the government and opposition would have to sit together to discuss the challenges the country was facing.
