LAHORE, Jan 15: A tricky card of six events has been drawn up for the Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.
The events are made up of ordinary runners comprising lower divisions of class VII, from division V down to division VIII, which is at the bottom of gymkhana handicaps.
In all, 89 runners are to take part in six events, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. All events will be contested over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres.
The fields for the events are big. In four events there are 17 to 18 runners while in the other two there are 11 and 8 only.
The feature event, the Kohat Plate class VII division V (I) has 18 runners barring last-minute withdrawals.
Of them not a single acceptor has shown any form in his or her recent outings. On the past performances six of them come into reckoning.
They are: Easy To Listen, Imagine If, Lucky Credit Queen, Pistol Pete, Royal Prosper and Qaswa Princess.
On microscopic analysis of runners’ recent showing the number can be reduced to four, by excluding Easy To Listen and Pistol Pete.
Imagine If and Royal Prosper come from a single stable and of the two only one would be on job.
And that will come to light only in the ring before the race, which will be sixth and last in racing order.
Likewise four contestants look on chance in the supporting and fifth event, namely, Rukhsh, Bone Crusher Morning Bird and Fly To The Stars They should decide about the winner.
In other four events four or more contestants look good in each race to fight out for supremacy. The first race will be held at 12.30 pm.
