LAHORE, Jan 12: Robbers took away cash and valuables worth Rs3 million in three major hits in the city on Saturday.
Five robbers barged in the house of Sufi Nazir Ahmad in Hussainiabad in Sundar police precincts, held family members at gunpoint and looted cash and valuables worth Rs1.3 million.
Some robbers stormed the house of Haidar Sarfraz in A-1 Block of Johar Town in Township police precincts and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.
Some robbers burst into the house of Muzammil in Shaukat Town in Factory Area police precincts and took away cash and valuables worth Rs1.2 million.
MURDERED: A 35-year-old woman was found strangled at a desolated place in Nishtar Colony on Saturday.
Police said the woman was not yet named and her body was shifted to the morgue for an autopsy. They said the victim’s throat bore torture marks.
Separately, Defence A police said security guard Sheikh Qadir was found murdered in the Bank Islami branch of Y Block of DHA in the morning.
Police said Qadir of Azad Kashmir was shot dead by unidentified gunmen who entered the bank, gunned him down and fled after throwing his body in the bathroom.
Police said nothing was missing from the bank, therefore, it seemed that the assailants killed Qadir for personal reasons.
Police recorded statements of bank employees and seized CCTV footage for investigation.
ACCIDENT: A man was killed and two women were injured in two road accidents in the city on Saturday.
Naulakha police said 35-year-old motorcyclist Akhtar Nawaz was hit and killed by a speeding truck.
Akhtar was transported to Mayo Hospital in critical condition where he died from wounds.
Police took truck driver Shirin Zawar into custody and impounded his vehicle.
Muslim Town police said Nasreen and her relative were injured after a rickshaw turned side down near Muslim Town Underpass. The injured were shifted to a hospital.
