Turkish plays: futile controversy

IN recent weeks people associated with the TV drama industry have made a huge uproar against the screening of Turkish plays on local TV channels.

I am of the view that we, the viewers, should be the ones to decide about what we would like to watch, and the local drama fraternity should not try and impose plays with the same old themes on us.

We are tired of them. Unnecessary controversy should not be created about something that has been beautiful like Ishq-i-Mamnoon which we just loved.

If somebody is talking about contents, he should be honest with himself and local artistes, producers, directors, writers and others should learn a lesson about why viewers enjoyed Ishq-i-Mamoon instead of creating a furore.
