Gilani review petition: CJ declares registrar’s objections valid, returns plea

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Saturday declared valid the objections raised by the registrar's office on Yousuf Raza Gilani's petition seeking a review of the court's June 19, 2012 order and returned the former premier's plea, DawnNews reported.

The Supreme Court's registrar had raised eight objections on the petition and had forwarded those to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

The registrar had requested the chief justice to decide on the objections.

Declaring the objections valid, the chief justice returned the plea filed by the former prime minister.

Gilani had filed the petition seeking a review of the court’s order disqualifying him from holding a seat in parliament for committing contempt of court.

Instead of filing through his counsel, the former premier had himself sent the petition by post, a court source had confided to Dawn.
