HYDERABAD, Jan 14: The inventor of first Sindhi software, Abdul Majid Bhurgari, has stressed the need for further development of Sindhi softwares and use of information technology by the Sindhi people.
He was speaking at a seminar on “Sindhi Computing, Past, Present and Future,” organized by the Sindhi Language Authority here on Monday.
He said that the Sindhi language had the quality of becoming a language of computer and Internet as it had already been proved that in the field of computing, the Sindhi language was not lagging behind other languages of the world.
Bhurgari elaborated that in the near past, Sindhi computing was restricted to composing but now anything, which could be done on computer in other languages, could also be done in Sindhi language.
He said that in the world of computing, the database management was most important and added that efforts had been successful for database management in the Sindhi language.
Stressing the need for coordination among the languages, being used in IT, he said that for the development and progress of the Sindhi language, it was extremely necessary to concentrate on Sindhi computing and information technology.
He made it clear that the development and progress of Sindhi language depended on the development of Sindhi computing.
He said that for the development of Sindhi language, the Sindhi youth should realize the importance of information technology.
He said that since computer was being used in education, business and other walks of life, it was necessary for them to make all-out efforts for development of Sindhi computing in every field.
The vice chancellor of Isra University, Prof (Dr) Asadullah Kazi, who presided over the seminar, said that the Sindhi language had now become the language of electronic communication.
He said that by compressing the Sindhi alphabets, the masterpieces of Sindhi literature, including “Shah-jo-Risalo” and Sindhi dictionaries, could be transferred on Internet.
The chairman of SLA, Professor (Dr) Mohammad Qasim Bughio, said that with the help of Mr Bhurgari, the authority had succeeded in developing websites, database and chatting programmes in Sindhi language on WindowsXP.
He said that the authority was concentrating on Sindhi computing and preparation of dictionaries and sought help of all and sundry in this regard in view of limited resources of the authority.
Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo, Mir Mukhtiar Talpur, Dr Ashu Thama and others asked questions from Mr Bhurgari about Sindhi computing.
