KARACHI, Jan 14: Five ships carrying containers, general cargo and crude oil are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delayed arrivals of foreign flag vessels. As a result, only two ships, Kota Wangsa to offload and load containers and Arktis Crystal to load general cargo were berthed.
But sailing on the other hand was active as half a dozen ships departed after loading various commodities: They are: Iwato, Pretty River, Kota Wangsa, Arktis Crystal, Stolt Alliance and Good Hope. Californian Highway and Hyderabad are due to sail out on Wednesday.
Cargo handling activity suffered a sharp contraction at 35,103 tons owing to fall in arrivals. The export tonnage of 18,076 tons comprised 1,182 tons of rice, 3,883 tons of chrome ore and 13,011 tons of general goods, while import tonnage fell to 17,027 tons.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: Al-Manakh, Mar Challenger, India Star, to unload and unload containers, Danos, with crude oil and Multan, with general cargo.
