ISLAMABAD, Jan 2: Member of the Punjab Assembly from Kasur Sheikh Alauddin has said that no election petition is pending against him before the Lahore High Court.
Clarifying a report published in Dawn on Dec 31 that was based on data of the Election Commission of Pakistan, he said a petition filed against him had been dismissed by Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman in 2009 and the order was upheld by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The said newspaper report was based on a document prepared by the ECP, which stated that a petition filed by Rana Kanwar Mumtaz Hassan against Mr Alauddin was pending before Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the LHC since 2009.
