Three suspects identified in murder case

KARACHI, Jan 1: Two witnesses on Tuesday picked out three suspects during identification parades before a judicial magistrate in a newly-wed woman’s murder case.

Aziz-un-Nisa, her son, Mazharuddin, and his friend, Adnan Saleem, have been booked for allegedly killing Urooj after she had contracted a freewill marriage with a son of Aziz-un-Nisa, Tahiruddin, in November within the remit of the Surjani Town police station.

Judicial Magistrate (west) Kaneez-i-Fatima conducted the identification parades after legal formalities.

Each suspect was lined up along with dummies separately and the court called the witnesses to identify them.

Abdul Wahab and Waseem, neighbours of the deceased, rightly identified all the three suspects and deposed that they had seen them coming out of the victim’s house on the day of the incident.

According to the prosecution, Mazhar contracted a court marriage without the consent of his family and started living with his wife in a rented house in Surjani Town. However, the suspects had allegedly killed the newly-wed woman on Nov 26 when she was alone at home, it added. A case (FIR No 751/12) was lodged under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the deceased’s husband.

The court remanded the suspects in prison while directing the investigating officer to submit a charge-sheet till Jan 4.
