FAISALABAD, Jan 13: Dacoits and robbers took away cash, gold ornaments, hijacked a car and two motorcycles in eight strikes in the city and its adjoining areas during the last 24 hours.
Muhammad Iqbal was shot at and seriously injured when he put up resistance to a dacoity bid in Awanwala village.
Two masked robbers snatched thousands of rupees and gold ornaments from Muhammad Habib and his wife when they were returning after attending a marriage party in Samanabad.
Five dacoits took away thousands of rupees and electronic appliances, worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, from the house of Abdul Ghaffar in Chak No 70GB.

TRANSFORMER: A team of Wapda engineers and field staff installed a 65-ton transformer of 26kv capacity in a record period of seven hours, saving at least Rs205 million.
The old model transformer of Khurrianwala grid station was a major source of power supply to more than two dozen industrial units. The grid station developed some technical fault disrupting power supply and causing huge financial losses to industrial units as well as the Fesco to the tune of millions of rupees.
The Fesco chief got a new transformer from Wapda for whose replacement a special shutdown of 48 hours was notified. However, the team succeeded in replacing the huge 65-ton transformer in just seven hours. This also caused a saving of Rs205 million to Wapda besides a huge saving of millions of rupees to industrialists.
The Fesco chief announced special honorarium for the team members who successfully replaced the transformer at the grid station.
