14 killed in Tirah bombing
LANDI KOTAL, Dec 31: Fourteen people, women and children among them, were killed and four others injured when fighter planes bombed two houses in Tirah valley on Monday, sources said.
Talking to Dawn, Ezatullah Humkhayal, a spokesman for a Tirah-based unspecified religious group, said that two planes bombed houses of Hunar Shah Malikdin Khel and Shah Pur Shalobar in Sarhokha area near Bagh Markaz at around 4am.
He said the bombing killed nine members of the family of Hunar Shah and five relatives of Shah Pur.
The dead included women and children. Four people were injured and shifted to hospital in Peshawar.
Local people said they faced difficulties in retrieving the dead and the injured because of heavy snowfall and inclement weather in Tirah and surrounding areas,There was no official word about the air strikes and killings.
Mr Ezatullah said that the dead and the injured were non-combatants and they had no affiliations with any militant group.
He urged the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the killing of innocent tribesmen and announce compensation for the affected families.
