Meeting in Islamabad over granting MFN status to India: Foreign Secretary Jilani

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani on Monday said an important meeting was taking place in Islamabad today over granting India the status of Most Favoured Nation (MFN), DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, the foreign secretary said significant developments were expected in the meeting.

Pakistan’s target of granting India the MFN status was Dec 31, 2012.

Jilani added that Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar would be starting an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

The two countries would discuss bilateral ties and matters of mutual interest.

Jilani said the minister would also discuss the issue of investments in Pakistan, adding that, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would also exchange their views on the situations in Afghanistan and Syria.

The two sides would also review economic and defence ties, the foreign secretary said.
