Heart-wrenching is the word. Anyone who saw the great actress of yesteryear Roohi Bano’s interview on one of the local channels last week must be feeling terribly, terribly sad.

We will not comment on what she said and how she uttered those words. It is more than obvious that she needs help. Help not just on the psychological front but also with respect to her socioeconomic needs. The woman is our cultural asset. She belongs to that era when actors did not act to earn loads of moolah and buy fancy cars and clothes. She was an actor to her fingertips. The government should help her out in whichever way it can. If she fades away like that, society, all of us, should be held responsible for it.
