THATTA, Dec 29: Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuro said on Saturday that no political power would dare redefine the years-old territorial boundaries of Sindh.

He said the new system of local bodies had mutually been passed through the Sindh Assembly and amendments were still possible with consensus through the forum.

He was speaking at a gathering at the stone-laying ceremony of a project of 150 houses being constructed for the IDPs (internally displaced persons of the 2010 flood) in the village of Ibrahim Jakhro near Chillya on the National Highway by HANDS (Health and Nutrition Development Society) with financial assistance of Rotary Humanitarian Trust.

The speaker said the Council of Mutual Interests had approved the construction of the Bhasha dam, but the issue of the Kalabagh dam was unnecessarily being politicised. He said the judiciary was not meant for the construction of dams in the country.

Commenting on the public address of the founder of Tehreek Minhajul Quran Dr Tahirul Qadri on Dec 23, he said his advice about an unconstitutional and undemocratic government would never be accepted.

Suggesting him to return abroad, Mr Khuro alleged that Dr Qadri was a brainchild of retired general Pervez Musharaf, adding that the PPP government was determined to complete its tenure.

On completion of five years of its governance, the PPP would set up an interim government in coordination with the opposition to conduct fair and impartial elections.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan would be held responsible for any postponement of the general elections either on the pretext of non-completion of voters lists or on any other issue.

The speaker said terrorism was a serious issue of the entire country and not merely of Karachi. State institutions were making all-out efforts to overcome the situation, he said.

He said the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had also been created by Gen Musharraf and the country was still suffering irreparable losses due to his misdeeds.

Leaders of Rotary Humanitarian Trust and HANDS Aijaz Memon, Jalal Shaikh, Dr Tanveer Shaikh, Faiz Ahmed Qudwani, Sattar Faiz Memon, Shafi Samoon, Mustafa Zaur and others also spoke on the occasion.
