KARACHI, Dec 27: Opener Usman Farhat hammered a scintillating century to power Dubai Islamic Bank ‘A’ to a 52-run defeat of Soneri Bank in the fourth Agha Sports T20 cricket tournament at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground here the other day.
The left-handed Usman smashed 119 off just 65 balls with the aid of nine boundaries and seven sixes as Dubai Islamic Bank ‘A’ amassed 214-4 in their allotted 20 overs. Asif Siddiqui scored a 22-ball 38 with six hits to the fence.
Soneri Bank, in reply, reached 158-5 with Faisal Iqbal (38 off 17 balls, seven fours and one six) and Ubaid-ur-Rehman (36 not out off 26 balls, two fours) their main run-getters.
Slow left-armer Abdul Qadir captured two wickets for 10 runs, while Man-of-the-Match Usman completed a fine all-round performance by grabbing two for 28 with his part-time off-spinners as Dubai Islamic Bank ‘A’ recorded their second straight victory in the competition.
In another fixture, KASB Bank also won for the second time in the event by thrashing Telenor Pakistan by nine wickets with all-rounder Zulfiqar Lehri scoring 41 and Tariq Murad an unbeaten 46 after Telenor Pakistan mustered just 96-7.
