Two Swatis freed from captivity of pirates

SWAT, Dec 24: The news about release of two residents of Swat, who were in the captivity of Somalian pirates for the last three years, has instilled a new life in their relatives.

The family members of the released Swatis said that they were waiting eagerly for their arrival. “They have reached Somalia and will soon return to their homes,” they said.

The Somalian pirates had attacked a ship and made its crew members and passengers hostages on March 2010. However, following a successful action by Nato forces several captives including the two residents of Swat were released from the captivity of pirates.

They were identified as Gul Bacha of Bara Bandai and Ali Mohammad of Godan, Dewlai area of Swat valley. They are expected to reach Swat within the next few days.

They had no contact with their family members for the last about three years. The family members said that they had talked to the released persons. “They are in good health and will soon reach their homes,” the relatives said.
