RAWALPINDI, Dec 24: The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) and Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) organised functions on Monday in connection with Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah birthday celebrations.
The Rawalpindi Arts Council put on display rare photographs of the Quaid-i-Azam.
The pictures depicted the statesmanship of the founder of Pakistan. It threw light on his struggle for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.
The RAC and Punjab Arts Council collected the pictures from different sources to educate the younger generation about the Pakistan Movement.
The snaps turned out to be a successful attempt by the lens men to portray different modes and styles of the great leader while taking up Pakistan case with the British authorities.
In some pictures, the lens men immaculately captured the beauty of the leadership of Mr Jinnah while addressing public meetings, working at his office, speaking at party meetings, and meeting British and Hindu leaders and foreign dignitaries.
Senior journalist Irfan Siddique, Naheed Manzoor and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition which was attended by a large number of people from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The exhibition will remain open till December 31.
At the PNCA, a large number of students from government and private schools and colleges participated in the programme arranged by Children Art Workshop.
Tributes were paid to the Quaid through tableau, speeches and national songs.
The programme was aimed at educating the younger generation about the message of Quaid.
A puppet show was presented in the beginning by the National Puppet Theatre of PNCA for children.
Tableaus were staged by the students of Divisional Public School and Islamabad Model School for Girls (IMSG) G-6/1-3.
In the speeches, Mehreen Arshad from IMSG G-6/1-3, Hassan Bilal from Pak-Turk International School, and Mubashar Fayyaz from Sir Syed Public School, Tipu Road highlighted the message of the Quaid.
A national song Ay Mere Watan Taiz Qadam was presented by students of Sir Syed Public School, Rawalpindi.
Nadia and her fellow students from IMSG G-6/1-3 sang Ay Rooh-e-Quaid while Fatima Iqbal and her group from the IMSG G-6/2 also presented national song.
