Industrial workers for cut in power tariff

KASUR, Jan 12: More than 200 owners and workers of powerloom industries on Sunday took out a procession against Wapda and the Central Board of Revenue.

The procession started from outside the railway station and ended at municipal committee chowk.

They were holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands. Speaking on the occasion, the representatives of powerloom owners demanded cut in electricity tariff and withdrawal of general sales tax on power bills.

The procession was led by Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar, the president of the powerloom industries association.

They threatened that if their demands were not met, they would launch a province-wide protest.

SUSPENDED: The district police officer of Kasur has suspended from service a sub-inspector and a clerk on the charges of inefficiency and carelessness.

DPO Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar visited several police stations on Sunday. He found Khudian police station Sub-Inspector Noor Muhammad and clerk careless and inefficient. He ordered immediate suspension of both from service.

KIDNAPPED: Eight men kidnapped a woman from her house in Chunian.

Police said that Sher Muhammad with his seven accomplices forced his entry into the house of Ruqaya Bibi and took her away at gunpoint.
