WASHINGTON, Dec 21: A judge has sentenced a woman to one year in prison for conspiring to ship material to Pakistan for a nuclear reactor.
US District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan on Thursday also ordered Xun Wang to pay a $100,000 fine and perform 500 hours of community service.
Ms Wang, a former managing director of PPG Paints Trading Co. of Shanghai, admitted she helped send three shipments of high-performance epoxy coatings from the US to Pakistan through China without the required export license.
She pleaded guilty in November 2011. As part of the plea, Ms Wang agreed to cooperate with the government’s investigation. The Justice Department says her cooperation led to this month’s guilty plea by the China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Company.—AP
