PESHAWAR, Dec 19: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has praised a recent visit of Governor Masood Kausar to North Waziristan Agency and stressed the need that the civilian leadership should also increase interaction with tribal people.
In a statement on Wednesday, the QWP chief said that people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas had no contact with civilian leadership due to military operations and thus facing problems.
Terming the governor’s visit a good initiative, he said that this was the first visit of a governor to any tribal agency since 2008. He said that such visits would boost the morale of tribesmen as they had suffered heavily due to the prevailing law and order situation.
Mr Sherpao said that the governor should visit other tribal regions, as people of whole Fata had been facing numerous problems, which needed proper attention.
He asked the governor to pay special attention to the problems of displaced families, who had been living a hard life in camps, and work out a proper plan for their repatriation.
“The president must also interact with the people of tribal region and should listen to their problems,” he said and added that being chief executive of the Fata he should compensate the people for the losses they had suffered due to militancy.
The QWP chairman condemned attacks on polio teams in Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and asked the government to award punishment to the culprits. —Bureau Report
