Samples taken from 150 drug shops

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 11: The district health officer (DHO) and drug inspectors raided on Saturday about 150 drug shops in the city and seized spurious and expired medicines.

Raids were conducting on a number of complaints that the drug shops were selling spurious and expired medicines. The team raided the shops in the city area, Imamia Colony and Muridke.

The seized drugs were sent for laboratory test.

SUGARCANE: Growers in Sangla and its adjoining areas have protested against the behaviour of local sugar mills administration.

Their leaders told newsmen that the administration was not cooperating with farmers. A huge sum was outstanding against the mills management which it was not clearing, they added.

They said they had met the management several times but the matter has not yet been resolved.

They said due to non-payment of their dues, a large number of growers have decided not to harvest sugarcane in future.

They claimed that the government had also failed to force the mills management to clear the growers’ dues. They urged the Punjab governor, chief minister and authorities concerned to help them get back their money.
