LAHORE, Dec 17: The divisional administration has directed the officials concerned to make arrangements for setting up open camps/one-window cells at different places to start paying compensation to affectees of the Metro Bus System (MBS) project.
“We are receiving reports about problems being faced by the people in getting compensation for the land the administration has acquired from them for the MBS project. We have to make the process simple and trouble-free by setting up open camps for three days (Monday to Wednesday from 9:00am to 4:00pm) next week to facilitate the affected,” said Lahore Commissioner Jawad Rafique Malik while presiding over a meeting at his office here on Monday.
He directed the officials to immediately launch an awareness campaign so that owners of the acquired land/property could recourse to camps easily along with documents for their ownership and possession etc.
He said that officials found using delaying tactics in giving compensation to landowners would be taken to task.
Secretary (Settlement) Muhammad Afzal Shaheen, Additional Collector (Revenue) Nadir Chattha, Assistant Commissioner (City) Saira Umar, Assistant Commissioner (Model Town) Amina Munir and other officials concerned from the LDA and the CDGL also attended the meeting.
ILLEGAL ABATTOIRS: The City District Administration directed on Monday the officials to intensify the on-going crackdown on illegal slaughtering in various parts of the city to ensure provision of quality meat to citizens.
“There will be no compromise on providing quality meat to the people. Officials should continue raiding illegal abattoirs in the city,” said the DCO while presiding over a meeting here at Town Hall.
ADC (G) Mussarat Jabeen, Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) Nadia Saqib, the Iqbal Town TMO and animal sellers and butchers of Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market were also present.
The DCO said that issues relating to water supply, security and parking at the market were being resolved gradually.
He took serious notice of various robbery incidents at the market, directing police officials to arrest criminals.
Earlier, speaking at a meeting with goods transporters, the DCO said that a new truck terminal equipped with modern facilities would be established in Sundar to get rid of the traffic-related issues in the city.
He said the terminal, to be set up on 2,000 kanals of land, would accommodate at least 700 heavy trucks at a time.
He directed goods and transport owners to submit their plan in this regard within two days.
ACTION: The Town Planning Wing of the LDA demolished a car showroom at Maulana Shaukat Ali Road in Johar Town and razed several illegal structures of houses in Architect Housing Society.
According to an LDA spokesman, the car showroom owner had obtained permission for constructing a house at plot No 5 in E-Block, but he built a commercial structure there against the rules.
Similarly, he said that several owners didn’t get permission for constructing their houses at the Architect Housing Society.
CASES: The Shalimar Town Administration got cases registered on Monday against two men for violating a ban imposed by the CDGL on wall-chalking across the city.
According to town administrator Shahid Kaliani, town officials have almost erased all wall-chalking in various parts of the city.
Officials of various towns in the city also got registered cases against 39 butchers for illegal slaughtering in various localities.
