TIMERGARA, Dec 14: Central general secretary of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Bakht Baidar Khan on Friday accused the ANP-led government of failing to purge the province of the scourge of explosives and bombs and to restore peace in the region. He also accused the former MMA government of letting the militancy spread across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was addressing a gathering at Tisso area of Adenzai. Party activists and elders of the area attended the function. Several people from the JI, ANP and PPP announced to quit their parties and join the QWP on the occasion. Those who joined the party included Parvez Khan, Gran Bacha, Wali Mohammad, Khaista Mohammad, Mushtaq, Akhtar Ikram, Akbar Syed, Akbar Bacha, Ibrahim, Gul Bahadar, Sultanat Khan, Samiullah and Noor Hadi.
The QWP, Lower Dir, president Mohammad Umar, former union council nazims Abdul Wadood, Mohammad Israr and Mirza Bacha also addressed the gathering.
Mr Bakht Baidar accused the MMA of bringing heaps of explosives and bombs to the region and the ANP of setting them on fire. He also accused the ANP government of conducting military operation in Malakand division, while there was no such action in Karachi which had been facing worst kind of law and order.
He said people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had trust in Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and the QWP would make the present rulers accountable for each penny if it came to power.
He also condemned the government for its failure to rebuild the Chakdara bridge despite the passage of two and a half years. He said the bridge linked four districts of Malakand with rest of the country.
IED DEFUSED: The Mayar Jandol police on Friday defused an improvised explosive device (IED). Talking to journalists the SHO Anwar Syed said police recovered an old IED along with four hand grenades dumped at a dry stream at Qandhary area of Jandol.
He said the IED had been planted some time back on a roadside.
He said the Mayar police spotted the hand grenades and later found the IED as well which was defused by the bomb disposal squad.
