LARKANA, Dec 11: The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SBBMU) has met a long-standing demand of Chandka Teachers Association (CTA) by issuing a fresh list of the faculty members who have been given one-step upgrade.
Prof Khursheed Ahmed Abbasi, who was the focal person of the anomalies committee, told Dawn here on Tuesday that the notification would benefit 240 professors, associate professors and assistant professors, senior registrars, senior lectures and lectures.
Registrar of SBBMU Dr Ammanullah Jokhio, in a notification issued on 10 December 10, 2012, said the list attached with it as ‘revised list’.
The newly-appointed lecturers would also get benefit from this list, said Prof Khursheed Abbasi.
Some 157 and 83 faculty members of the Chandka Medical College in Larkana and Ghulam Muhammed Mahar Medical College in Sukkur would be upgraded respectively, he said, adding that it was a hectic task which he had successfully accomplished.
The general body of CTA held on Dec 8 had expressed its dissatisfaction over the upgrade process and deferred its campaign till Jan 6. But the management of SBBMU decided to resolve this issue before Dec 27 when the top PPP leadership would gather in Larkana on the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.
Welcoming the fresh notification, CTA president Prof Badaruddin Juenjo said this was the fourth notification and the SBBMU had met the CTA demand for the one-step upgrade, but the real issue was to prove it practically.
