PESHAWAR, Jan 10: Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed concern over armed attack on a cable centre and damaging equipment in Peshawar some time ago.
The commission chairperson Afrasiab Khattak said attack on the cable centre, which was operating under the government licence, was a direct attack on people rights, said a press release issued here on Friday.
It said the action was aimed at creating terror in society for the imposition of the ideas of some extremist group on society.
He feared that the fascist trend could grow into a dangerous monster, threatening whatever was left of democratic freedom in the society, if such activities were not brought under control in time.
He said the said cable centre was hardly 300 meters away from the police station and the police not only failed in intervening in time to chase the culprits, but initially refused to register the FIR.
