Japanese FM arrives

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: Japanese Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka arrived here on Friday on a four-day visit to Pakistan.

She was received by Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar on her arrival.

During her visit, Ms Tanaka will meet President Pervez Musharraf.

She will also hold talks with Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar and is scheduled to visit a refugee camp near Peshawar.

Pakistan and Japan enjoy close friendship and cooperation. Over the years, Japan has become a key economic partner of Pakistan. Islamabad deeply appreciates Tokyo’s bilateral economic assistance and other support, pledged to Pakistan through international financial institutions.

Japan has appreciated and extended full support to Pakistan for its role in the current military campaign against terrorism.—APP
