KARACHI, Dec 10: The Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf, Jamaat-i-Islami and Sunni Tehrik filed suggestions to the Election Commission of Pakistan, Sindh, about verification of Karachi’s electoral rolls as the deadline for filing proposals set by the Supreme Court passed on Monday.

The parties’ leaders sought immediate action by the ECP on the court’s judgment and held a meeting with the CEC and provincial chief of the body.

According to sources, opposition parties and those having no representation in the assemblies criticised the role of the provincial election commission and sought replacement of its chief before the coming general election.

“There is no need of a fresh census for delimitation in Karachi,” Taj Haider of the PPP told reporters after submitting his party’s suggestions.

Earlier, the JI’s Karachi chief Mohammad Hussain Mehanti and Sunni Tehrik leader Matloob Awan met CEC Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim and discussed their suggestions.
