COLLEGE teachers have been deprived of time-scale promotions, scholarships for higher studies, qualification allowances and upgradation of basic pay scales.

Although the nature of job of public university and public college teachers is similar, it’s only university teachers who are given government scholarships to do MPhil and PhD in the indigenous and foreign universities and are also provided with MPhil and PhD allowances.

University teachers are granted higher basic pay scales such as lecturers get 18, Assistant Professors 19, associate professors 20 and professors 21.

On the other hand, college teachers are not allocated funds for scholarships nor do they get MPhil and PhD allowances. The basic pay scales of college teachers are: Lecturer 17, assistant professors 18, associate professors 19 and professors 20.

Primary, secondary and higher secondary school teachers throughout Pakistan and the teachers working in federal government colleges and model colleges have been given time-scale promotions but college teachers have been deprived of even time-scale formula all over the country.

The authorities concerned are requested to take concrete measures for the provision of the basic and justified rights of college teachers.
