LHC chief justice’s advice to civil judges

LAHORE, Dec 8: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial says judges should give comprehensive judgments without any fear or favour that could not be challengeable at higher forums.

He was addressing the concluding ceremony of a capacity building training course for women civil judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy on Saturday. Justice Sagheer Ahmad Qadri and office-bearers of the Lahore High Court Bar Association were also present.

Justice Bandial stressed upon the judges to deliver comprehensive judgments that should be upheld in higher courts. He asked them to improve their behaviour and treat lawyers equally. He asked them to keep the high court informed about the ugly incidents in courts so that these could be referred to the Punjab Bar Council and the Pakistan Bar Council.

He advised judges to polish their legal skills with the help of research and judgments of the Supreme Court.

Justice Tanvir Ahmad Khan (retired), director general of the Punjab Judicial Academy, and trainee judges’ representative Ayesha Khalid also spoke.
