ANP files motion against Khosa’s remarks on 18th amendment

ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) moved an adjournment motion in the upper house on Thursday against Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa’s statement regarding the 18th constitutional amendment, DawnNews reported.

The adjournment motion states that the Khosa’s remarks on the 18th amendment reflect a dictatorial mindset. The Governor Punjab is seeking powers enjoyed by a dictator, it says.

The adjournment motion further adds that the 18th constitutional amendment was approved with the consent of all political parties present in the Parliament.

Addressing party workers on Wednesday, Governor Latif Khosa had remarked that Raza Rabbani had “disfigured the Constitution through 18th amendment.”

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader said the 18th constitutional amendment had brought about structural changes in the governor’s authority. “Although we are appreciating the work of Raza Rabbani, in reality he has disfigured the Constitution.”

Thursday’s motion by the ANP urges the PPP leadership to take action against Khosa’s remarks.
