LAHORE, Dec 5: Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen has said a strict action will be taken against those police officers and SHOs who fail to control crimes in their respective areas and provide justice to citizens.
He said the basic responsibility of the police was to protect the life and property of citizens and officers who would fail to fulfill this responsibility should be ready to face strict action.
He expressed these views while addressing a joint meeting of the operations and investigations wings here on Wednesday. DIG Investigation Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed, DIG Operations Muhammad Tahir Rai were also present.
The CCPO said the timely registration of cases in all police stations would be ensured at every cost and in case of any complaint a strict and immediate action would be taken against the SHOs concerned.
He said the citizens could directly approach the CCPO office in case of delay in the registration of cases.
Mr Tareen directed the police officers to ensure installation of close circuit television cameras at all jewellery shops, banks, important business centers and markets.
He said a stern action would be taken against those police officers and officials who were in the habit of using false sections of law in FIRs to minimize the crime.
He said all SHOs should themselves write the FIR’s of heinous crimes and all details relating to the incident in FIRs.
The CCPO said all SPs should have a close liaison with members of peace committees, traders’ associations and notables of the area for their cooperation in eliminations of crimes from society.
PUNISHMENTS: DIG Operations Muhammad Tahir Rai awarded on Wednesday multiple punishments to threepolice officers on different charges during the orderly room.
According to a handout, the police officers were called in to reply different charges against them. After listening to their replies the DIG Operations expressed his displeasure and dissatisfaction and announced different punishment.
Inspector Mehmood Ahmed was dismissed from service for embezzling narcotics. A criminal case was registered against him earlier.
Sub-Inspector Amanat Ali was also dismissed from service for releasing a hardened criminal after taking bribe.
The DIG demoted SI Abdul Rauf to the rank of ASI for demanding bribe from the brother of an accused.
