THIS is in response to your editorial ‘Public’s responsibility’ (Nov 20). I was once fined by the traffic police on Sharea Faisal because one of my car’s headlights was dimmer than the other.

On the other hand, I do not see any heavy vehicle and rickshaw with working tail lights, no rickshaw or taxi with working meter, while only a few motorcyclists wear helmets.

All this is not because we do not have enough examination centres, but because the established examination centres think on a short-term basis and let the citizens pay bribe instead of proper fine.

The majority of drivers on our roads does not wear seat belts for their own safety. How can they even ‘pay’ more for the safety of others? First it is the responsibility of the government to work in a smooth manner and then the media or the government should expect citizens to act sensibly.
