ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday issued summons for former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the case pertaining to the appointment of Adnan Khawaja as the managing director of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), DawnNews reported.

NAB officials said Gilani had been issued a notice to submit his stance on the matter in two weeks’ time.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had declared Khawaja’s appointment as the OGDCL managing director as null and void.

Informed sources had told Dawn at the time of the appointment (in Sept 2010) that Khawaja was a personal friend of Gilani and had been working as chairman of the National Vocational Training Commission (Navtec).

He had developed a close friendship with the former prime minister during his days in jail about five years ago, the sources had told Dawn.

Khawaja was also said to be a close friend of Faisal Sakhi Butt, an Islamabad-based friend of President Asif Ali Zardari, the sources had said at the time.
